Platform worked with Australian natural skincare brand Sukin, to design, build, launch and manage a flagship cross-border store and retail presence with one of Asia’s most prominent e-commerce retailers, VipShop.
The Challenge and the Opportunity
To build the online profile of Sukin in Mainland China for successful e-commerce cross-border retailing. Our engagement included the development and execution of a localisation strategy that considered the cultural tastes and sensitivities of Chinese consumers that are otherwise ‘unknown’ to Westerners.
Our role has been to position Sukin as the leading natural skincare brand in Mainland China with carefully crafted messages that capture a broad audience, without jeopardising the integrity of the Sukin brand profile, and its core values.
Our role has involved developing the cross-cultural unification of Sukin’s visual theme across all touch-points in Mainland China, ensuring the Sukin brand does not become diluted with over-localisation attempts that commonly cause brand disconnect.
In time for 3 important seasonal events, Golden Week, Singles Day and Double 12, our work including content marketing, has provided Sukin with ‘sell-out’ promotions which had not been experienced before our engagement.
- Sell-out of entire stock scheduled for China during VIPShop campaign launch
- Significant increases in online store traffic and conversion rates
- Improved brand positioning within competitive skincare China market
- 13 sku’s launched online within 4 weeks of our engagement
- NAATI translations aligning with brand strategy for all content published
China’s ever-changing e-commerce landscape is and prone to contradictions.
Partnering with a reputable agency is necessary for Australian brands to navigate the Chinese market successfully
