Recognised for our previous efforts with Extol’s successful market launch and packaging, Platform was approached by Jim’s Garden Care during 2013-14 to design the brand’s entire range of new organic garden care product packaging.

The Challenge and the Opportunity

Our approach to effective packaging has stimulated marketing success for the new products, demonstrating our ability to clearly convey marketing messages through innovative design.

We diligently take into consideration many aspects that influence a successful outcome, such as consumer behaviour, PO environments, demographics, close and leading competitors, retail design, and packaging materials.

The Solution

In the case of Jim’s Garden Care, we worked very closely with marketing and sales teams, and thoroughly investigated the intended retailers and retail environments, which included Bunnings and Mitre10 exploring the journey from point-of-purchase through to end-use and storage at customer’s homes.

Through our research, branding and packaging design efforts, the packaging for Jim’s Garden Care strategically and effectively positions the brand, enabling it to distinctively stand out within the POS environments among more aggressive competitors.

The Results

Through our research, branding and design efforts, the packaging for Jim’s Garden Care’s new organic care products, now strategically and effectively positions the brand within the market space. The new packaging enabled these products to distinctively stand out within the POS environments among more aggressive competitors, with the following results:

  • Efficiencies in packaging design led to increased negotiating power with major retailers
  • Our launch consultation, POS and sales collateral assisted with not only the official launch of these products, but also contributed to increased marketing and sales from affiliates and resellers of these product lines
